Join Erin Monroe, Krieble Curator of American Paintings and Sculpture Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, for a lecture on the landscape painting tradition, Thomas Cole, and the Hudson River School of Art. Discover how time spent in Connecticut profoundly shaped the early works of Thomas Cole and his Connecticut-born protégé, Frederic Church. This talk will focus on how state history, landscapes, and cultural support for the arts, will illuminate its place in the story of nineteenth-century American painting.
