Spring Break Programs For Children And Families at Staatsburgh

April 16 at 10am "Mythology and Mascarons - The Faces of Staatsburgh"
Staatsburgh's ceilings and walls are decorated with three-dimensional gilded faces; symbols of kings, archetypes, and mythological figures. Explore these ornamental faces, known as mascarons, and then sculpt one of your own! For children ages 8 to 12, accompanied by an adult.

April 17 at 10am: "It's a Gilded Life"
Children will learn how life was lived in a Gilded Age mansion more than 100 years ago. Included is a tour of the opulent 79-room home of Ogden and Ruth Livingston Mills, followed by hands-on activities that allow participants to compare and contrast the lives of the servants and the gentry. For children ages 8 to 12, accompanied by an adult.

April 18 at 10am:"Architecture of Staatsburgh"
Learn about, design, and build your very own Staatsburgh like Gilded Age Architect Stanford White did. Using neo-classical architectural elements including columns, fanlights, pediments, and porticos, participants will build cardboard models. For children ages 8 to 12, accompanied by an adult.
