Highland Lights returns, as we build on this new local tradition, creating new lanterns and exploring new pathways through our hillside home. Following in the footsteps of last year’s Reawakened Landscape, we now turn our gaze to the stars. This year’s Ad Astra is inspired by the constellations in the night sky and the enduring hope and imagination they ignite. During a month of free collaborative workshops – led by Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles of Processional Arts – participants will create a cosmos of illuminated celestial characters and tales, who will emerge at twilight to wander the hills and meadows on Earth Day, April 22. Attendees will be invited to wander the landscape at will as they explore the heavens, carrying mini-planetarium lanterns to guide them. Lanterns great and small will gradually converge into a final procession, a community constellation to gather around the fire for drinks and stories.
