Detailed Times/Hours: Tour offered first Saturday of each month May through October at 11 am departs from FHK Gallery, 63 Main Street, Kingston.

Following the street plan designed by Peter Stuyvesant in 1658, the tour walks the heart of the largest intact early Dutch settlement in New York State and the neighborhood where New York State was born in 1777. Walking tour highlights include viewing the many eighteenth century limestone houses still standing in the Stockade District, and visiting the site of the drafting of the New York State Constitution in 1777 and the gravesite of New York’s first elected governor, George Clinton, in the Old Dutch Church Burying Ground.

Virgina Bocchicchio has been practicing Yoga for 20 years and teaching since 2007 in The Hudson Valley and Brooklyn, NY. Her teachings develop balance and stability through energetic opposites, along with careful alignment principles, assist in developing strength, steadiness and ease in any yoga practice. Andrea Parent-Tibbetts is the owner of Clover Brooke Farm, known for their premier Llama/Alpaca Hikes and Small Animal Fiber Farming Experiences through Airbnb. She has been a Fiber Artist for over 20 years, raising fiber animals since 2010. She is often seen teaching classes on the farm (and within the Community) on Handcrafted Goat Milk Soap, Wet and Needle Felting, Hand Spinning and other aspects of Fiber Art.

Come explore the trees with a new perspective--aloft, climbing trees! Avid lover of trees? Are you a birder? Photographer? Artist? Poet? Musician? Author? Adventurer? Nature Lover? Arborist? Then keep reading! This unique class has been crafted for people who are looking for something different; self-exploration, a time to bond with family or friends and your inner child. Let this be the start of something new for you! The Women's Tree Climbing Workshop enthusiastically created a one-day tree climbing experience. This program provides a rare opportunity to just show up, be curious and excited to be in the canopy. Come learn from the standing people, about yourself, and indulge in a magical tree canopy adventure! Registration is $300/person and is non-refundable. Use of all tree climbing equipment is included. Participants must be 16 and older. There are no prerequisites, but must be able to remain outdoors for 5 hours. Please bring a lunch, snacks and water and dress wearing pants, socks and light duty hiking boots. In case of storms or heavy rain, this program will be held on Monday, September 7th.

@ Mountain Top Arboretum Education Center

We are thrilled to welcome journalist Marguerite Holloway, who will speak about her book, Take to the Trees: A Story of Hope, Science and Self-Discovery in America's Imperiled Forests for this year's Annual Author Talk. Marguerite Holloway arrives at the Women’s Tree Climbing Workshop as a climbing novice, but with a passion for trees and a deep concern about their future. Run by twin sister tree doctors Bear LeVangie and Melissa LeVangie Ingersoll, the workshop helps people—from everyday tree lovers to women arborists working in a largely male industry—develop impressive technical skills and ascend into the canopy. As Holloway tackles unfamiliar equipment and dizzying heights, she learns about the science of trees and tells the stories of charismatic species. She spotlights experts chronicling the great dying that is underway in forests around the world as trees face simultaneous and accelerating threats. As she climbs, Holloway also comes to understand the profound significance of trees in her relationship with her late mother and brother. The book’s rousing final chapter offers something new: a grander environmental and arboreal optimism. A lyrical work of memoir and reportage, Take to the Trees sounds the alarm about rapid arboreal decline while also offering hope about how we might care for our forests and ourselves. Marguerite Holloway has written about the environment and science for publications including the New York Times, The New Yorker, Audubon, Wired and Scientific American, where she was a long-time writer and editor. She is a professor and the Director of Science and Environmental Journalism at the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University. @ Brinton Brook Audubon Sanctuary

Explore the 156-acres of Brinton Brook Audubon Sanctuary overlooking the Hudson River in Croton-on- Hudson with Saw Mill River Audubon. Two-hour leisurely nature walk with optional 1.5 hour extension to the highest point in Croton on the Village’s Highland Trail. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water. Binoculars are helpful. Rain or shine. Please note: no restrooms on property.

@ Shaker Heritage Society

Join us at America's first Shaker Settlement for our annual Harvest Craft Fair! There will be over 75 artisans there! Also, we will have hands on activities, live music, craft demonstrations, delicious food, a petting farm, and sheep shearing! There is something for the whole family. Parking is free and admission is a suggested donation of $5. Proceeds benefit the Shaker Heritage Society and our mission to revitalize this historic land.

@ Westmoreland Sanctuary

Detailed Times/Hours: Westmoreland is open, staffed and free 7 days a week, 9-5. We are always happy to welcome visitors to the museum, grounds and hiking trails.

Visit Westmoreland Sanctuary for a 1-hour animal program followed by a 1-hour, 1-mile guided hike. Meet the Westmoreland animal ambassadors and learn about the different animal groups. Learn about and interact with insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. The more you learn about these animals, the more you learn about the natural world around us. The group will then take a short hike in the Sanctuary to learn about nature in the summer, forest and pond ecology, Westchester history, and native plants and animals. Other features at Westmoreland Sanctuary include a terrace garden with a small pond and children's playhouse, picnic area, live animals and exhibits within the museum and 8.5 miles of hiking trails. We hope to see you there!

@ Cohoes Visitor Center

Description: Cohoes began its rise to industrial prominence as a canal town. The Erie and Champlain Canals traversed Cohoes, and this network of waterways, along with abundant waterpower, made Cohoes a leader in the Industrial Revolution. This walking tour will feature canal towpaths where mules pulling barges once trod, limestone locks built by hand, and other historic canal features. On the tour, you will learn the history of this 19th century technological achievement and find out the different routes the canal took through Cohoes over time. At stops along the route, you will hear stories of life in a lively canal town, learn about some of the people instrumental in developing and building the canal, and discover how transportation and power canals and the Cohoes Falls led to the growth of the Harmony Mills and other industries in Cohoes. The tour will begin at the Cohoes Visitor Center.

@ Lyndhurst

Detailed Times/Hours: Open daily 9:30 - 5 pm

This two-hour, two-mile ramble offers a complete overview of Lyndhurst’s historic landscape. This 67-acre Lower Westchester site reflects 180 years of grand estate living on the Hudson River. Visitors will stroll past specimen trees, including the majestic lindens for which the property was named, then walk through the Lord & Burnham greenhouse frame, rose and fern gardens, and gain exclusive access to the ruined swimming pool building. Walk along restored pathways to historic rockeries with spectacular views of the Hudson River. See the new pollinator garden designed by Hudson Valley landscape artist Paula Hayes, it forms a circular pattern, a mandala of plants, around the newly restored Overlook platform. The tour culminates inside the 1894 bowling pavilion with an exhibit dedicated to two women philanthropists. This rare tour of the Lyndhurst grounds is an excellent way to view this estate and enjoy the beautiful landscape!

The Pollinator Festival is a weekend-long celebration of creativity, community, and growth in Poughkeepsie. Inspired by “The Journey of the Seed,” the festival invites people of all ages to explore connections among the arts, horticulture, food, wellness, and the natural world through hands-on workshops, mini demonstrations, short performances, and creative activities for all experience levels. The weekend includes workshops sponsored by Scenic Hudson addressing public access and interaction with the Fall Kill.

Louisa Pond is a glacial kettle pond located on Shaupeneak Ridge. There is a side trail dedicated to Sojourner Truth with interpretive signage. The area is protected jointly by NY DEC and Scenic Hudson. We will walk through hardwood uplands and around a wetland area. There is a boardwalk along one section through the wetland. There are lovely views of the pond from all trail sections.

During this 2-hour guided program, participants will learn the basics of bird identification, how to use binoculars, and tips for spotting birds by sight and sound. Perfect for all ages and experience levels, this relaxing outdoor program is a great way to connect with nature and discover the birds that call our area home.

Clover Brooke Farm, Hyde Park NY Join us for our 7th Annual Farm Sampler Experience Day This Farm Sampler Experience is a reflection of the many different programs we offer at the farm in a modified version. This is for participants ages 5 yrs old and up, 2 hours in length. Cost is $50 per person-only offered on-9/19/2026 Our Sampler Experience is a reflection of a series of Experiences we offer at the farm once a year, in a modified version. You will walk your own llama or alpaca, visit with some of our smaller animals (baby goats, sheep and young llamaa) and learn how to felt your own bar of hand crafted soap, made right on the farm. You will experience a ‘modified’ walking/ working Fiber Farm tour amongst our 45 bucolic pastured acres. Our hope is that this tour will allow you to reconnect with a quieter side of life, one that allows for relaxation, warm and welcoming animal encounters and a country stroll through our pastures allowing a reconnection to nature. We will be spending all our time outside (RAIN or SHINE) and encourage appropriate seasonal attire! For your safety, please wear closed toed shoes. Detailed Times/Hours: Registration opens at 7am, safety meeting at 7:30am, launch st 8am.

Grab your kayak to join us as we paddle 2.7 miles across the Hudson River at the fabled Tappan Zee, then back again. We'll launch from Tarrytown's Losee Park, and head for Nyack's Memorial Park beach, take a 20 minute snack break, then return. Experienced kayakers who own their own boat and have enough endurance to kayak 5 miles with an average speed of 2.5 knots may participate. We will ask kayakers to travel in a tight group. Accompanying safety boats will be provided by the Auxiliary Coast Guard. Free parking will be available for participants at Losee Park. Check in starting at 7:00am, safety meeting at 7:30am, launch at 8:00am.

@ Walkway Over the Hudson: West

Join us on Sunday, September 20 from 2-3 p.m. at the Ulster Welcome Center in Highland to learn all about Historic Huguenot Street in New Paltz. Historic Huguenot Street is a 10-acre National Historic Landmark District, where visitors experience over 300 years of history. Examining three historic structures along Huguenot Street, “Three Centuries, Three Cultures” explores the multicultural history of a unique American settlement, known today as New Paltz, New York: the Esopus Munsee wigwam represents the strength and sacrifices of this region’s Indigenous peoples from pre-colonial America to the present day; the 1717 French Church teaches the European colonial origins of the multicultural Hudson Valley; and the Jacob Hasbrouck House shares colonial life for both the free and enslaved members of the community. Zachary Veith is the Tours & Interpretation Coordinator for Historic Huguenot Street, where he develops and evaluates historic house tours, as well as delivers public programming based on original research. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Greater Hudson Heritage Network, advocating for interpretation, programming, and preservation of objects in institutions statewide. He holds an M.A. in Museum Studies from University College London, and his research on nineteenth-century Black communities has been published in journals across the region. A lifelong resident of the Hudson River Valley, Veith is a descendant of the region’s Huguenot and Dutch colonizers.

On Friday, September 25 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Ulster Welcome Center in Highland, join New York State Parks Educator Mike Littier as he helps everyone discover fun facts about owls and the role that they play in our ecosystem. Kids will then dissect real owl pellets to gain a better insight into the world of these amazing nocturnal creatures. All Walkway Connections events are free to attend and appropriate for all ages. Walkway Connections is supported in part by the Maurice D. Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area and The M&T Charitable Foundation.

Experience Walkway Over the Hudson like never before at Walkway at Night, when the sun sets and the Hudson Valley begins to glow. From 212 feet above the river, take in breathtaking views as the moon rises overhead and the lights of Poughkeepsie and Highland shimmer in the distance. There’s truly nothing like a twilight stroll across the World’s Longest Elevated Pedestrian Bridge. Weather permitting, our friends from the Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association will join us on the bridge with telescopes, offering a closer look at the night sky and the celestial wonders above. Walkway members attend free. Non-members may purchase tickets for $5 in advance or at the gate. Children 12 and under are free. Pre-registration is encouraged to shorten your wait at the gate. Local farms and food makers gather in the heart of Ossining Village on Saturdays from 8:30am to 1pm. Stop by for lunch or a snack while you browse the village, on your way to the Hudson River waterfront, or before you hit the Croton Aqueduct trail.
