Details

Event Type Historic Site Tour/History Description While excavating the Gardener's Cottage ruins, volunteers discovered a poem about Springside that local scholars believe contains the clues to Matthew Vassar's hidden treasure. Join volunteers of Springside Landscape Restoration for a guided tour of Andrew Jackson Downing's historic landscape and receive a copy of the treasure hunt poem and site map for further exploration and amusement. Springside is a 20-acre designed landscape and historic site that was once the county estate of Matthew Vassar and is the only landscape of Andrew Jackson Downing to survive largely intact. Today, the National Historic Landmark is a historic site on the Hudson River Valley Greenway Trail. Organization Hosting the Event Springside Landscape Restoration Phone Number (646) 312-9767
