Event Type Kites & Kids Day Description Don’t miss “Kites & Kids Day” on Saturday, September 27 from 2-4 pm at Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site in Newburgh. The event is free and open to the public. Bring the whole family for an afternoon of fun activities. Kites will be given out to the first 150 kids and they can fly them on the great lawn overlooking the Hudson river. Enjoy face painting, a balloon artist, and toys and crafts from the 1700’s. Make a corn husk doll or try your hand at hoop rolling or a game of jacks. All activities are free and the site will be handing out free ice cream. The event is rain or shine, most activities will be moved indoors. And make sure you check out the exhibits in our museum, with galleries on George Washington, the Defense of the Hudson, and over 1300 museum objects.
