Event Type Historic Site Tour/History Description During the 18th century 14 percent of all the world’s wrought iron was being produced in the American colonies. In this Hudson River Ramble event discover the rich history of ironworking and iron production in the Hudson Highlands. Learn how items like the chain that crossed the Hudson were created, see historic pieces/artifacts, and experience a live blacksmithing demonstration. All ages are welcome. FREE PROGRAM. Program will begin with a lecture/tour of some museum pieces and history of local Ironworking history, brief walk to a iron mine, and a 30 minute live blacksmith demonstration.
