Detailed Times/Hours The hike meeting location will be emailed to all who are pre-registered. We will start the day at 9 a.m.with a 3-hour hike. After the hike, those who wish to stay for lunch will proceed to Krucker's Picnic Grove for traditional Oktoberfest fare.

Event Type Walk/Hike Description We will start the day with a hike on paved and woods roads and trails in Harriman State Park to the mountain reservoirs that harnessed Horse Chock Brook to provide water supply to Letchworth Village. Hike leaders Gordon Wren and Tony Benedict will talk about Letchworth, which was founded by Willam Pryor Letchworth in 1908 and operated as a New York State custodial institution until it closed in 1996. They will also point out other historic and scenic spots along the way. For those who choose to extend the day, this special Hike through History will concluse at Krucker's Picnic Grove in Ladentown, where we will enjoy an afternoon of traditional Oktoberfest entertainment and fare.
