Event Type Historic Site Tour/History Description Learn about the Hudson Valley's first people with special guest Harv Hilowtz! This event takes place aboard Solaris, the 100% solar-powered boat built by the Hudson River Maritime Museum. Did you know? The Hudson River Valley has been inhabited for more than ten thousand years. Learn about the Indigenous Lenape people, their history, and how they interacted with the landscape. Learn about what happened before and after first contact with Europeans, when Europeans colonized the region, the Lenape diaspora, and about the Lenape people who still live and work in the Hudson Valley. Questions and conversation encouraged. Harv Hilowitz is a historian of Indigenous and Hudson Valley history and a contributing scholar to the Hudson River Maritime Museum.
