A Gilded Age Christmas Holiday Programs at Staatsburgh State Historic Site

Nov 24, 2017 to Dec 31, 2017 Location: 75 Mills Mansion Dr, Staatsburg, NY 12580

Staatsburgh State Historic Site will present A Gilded Age Christmas, featuring sumptuous decorations and special craft and children’s programs, from late November through New Year’s Eve. The mansion’s lavish decorations evoke a turn-of-the-century style, recreating the atmosphere of holidays long-ago in one of the great estates of the Hudson Valley.

Staatsburgh was the Gilded Age country home of financier and philanthropist Ogden Mills and his wife, Ruth Livingston Mills, a prominent figure in New York society. The mansion, set within beautiful grounds on the Hudson River, was redesigned and expanded to 79 rooms in 1895 by the famous architect, Stanford White. Visitors can tour more than 15 rooms, decorated with the Millses’ original art and furnishings, and hear about the luxurious house parties and leisure activities enjoyed by their guests – all members of elite society in the Gilded Age.

Staatsburgh will open for the holiday season on Friday, November 24. Touring hours will be Thursday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. (last entry at 3:30p) through December 31. The site is also open every day after Christmas through December 31. The site will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
